Friday 12th August 2005: Thermaltake shark case arrived.
I just received my Thermaltake shark case and it is truly unique. The aluminium chassis is thick and of very high quality. The inside is very spacious with accommodation for five internal hard-drives or more if you count the seven externally accessible bays. Two keys are provided to lock your side panel and front door so your precious hardware can’t be flogged at public LAN events. The drive rack features removable drive trays so mounting and dismounting is surprisingly easy. Also included is a removable motherboard tray, which is a dream when installing awkward motherboards or heatsink retention brackets. Speaking of the hard-drive bays, there is plenty of room between each one, which would allow for larger type hard-drive coolers. The most common model includes a Thermaltake 430w power supply, an adequate amount for a modest system but not enough if you plan on filling up all that space. Two large honeycomb aluminium mesh windows on the side allow you to show off your internal components without removing the side panel. In regards to removing the side panel, it is easily removed by a slide handle and requires a key if locked. The honeycomb panels actually serve a less obvious purpose; to block EM interference and protect the fidelity of your audio and video quality etc.
This peice of harware is an engineering marvel! Four & a half stars out of five because Thermaltake might come up with something even better and I’ll have to buy that too!
